Session Five Recap

Merry Christmas in July from week 6 at Tapawingo!

This week was holly and jolly, with campers and counselors decked out in red and green and singing Christmas carols at all hours of the day. Event Hours were never lacking in energy, as we played a game of Capture the Presents on Tuesday and had a jaw-dropping holiday counselor fashion show on Thursday!

After much hard work and dedication, many girls were able to complete badges this week in a variety of activity areas, including many badges in Archery, Bible, Drama, and Sailing. With 17 Basic badges and 6 Advanced badges, a total of 23 badges were earned!

This week has been both relationally and spiritually enriching. Our theme this summer is Psalm 23: the Lord is our Shepherd.

In Power Hour each morning, we studied these verses and related topics such as...

  • how to read your Bible

  • God's unconditional love

  • patience as a fruit of the Spirit

  • eternity

We also heard from different guest speakers and staff members at Vespers this week, studying...

  • growing in our desire for God (with COTW full-time staff member, Miss Sarah Avila)

  • learning to be a sheep with God as our Shepherd (with Tapawingo favorite and former MLB player, Mr. Mickey Weston)

  • the story of the Prodigal Son (with our very own Director's Assistant, Miss Natalie Lovvoll)

Each night following Vespers, the girls gathered together for cabin devos to read and discuss Scripture and to pray for one another.

We are blessed by all the Lord has done this week, and we are eager to see Him at work in session 6! Please keep Tapawingo staff and campers in your prayers.

With great joy,

Miss Kieran
