Hello readers, it is session eight on the island! The Lord continues to bless our island with sweet fun and is revealing Himself in new ways this week at camp. Nearing the end of the summer season, campers and staff are basking in the beauty of the warm sun during the day and the cooler temperatures of the night time.
The program theme of this week is Disney. In addition to Tapawingo songs, we have been singing lots of Frozen, Moana, Mulan, and more! On Tuesday, all of camp played “Capture the Princess.” The night was full of laughter and enthusiasm.
This week we have the pleasure of learning from Miss Angie, who was the director of Tapawingo from 2005-2007. On Sunday, for our weekly gospel on the rocks message, she spoke about how Jesus is the only One who will truly fill us. While our hearts deceive us into thinking that we need something other than Him, these things will only enslave us. The girls loved how engaging she was and how her love for Christ and His ways overflowed from her! The Lord is using her words in powerful ways and we were so lucky to learn from her on Tuesday and Thursday night in Vespers.
Campers have also been busy with activities and hiking during the day and experiences such as sleeping out under the stars and going on overnight camping trips by night! The girls love making tie-dye, Disney-themed decorations, canvases, and friendship bracelets in the crafts cabin and also love getting in the lake either to swim, waterski, or banana boat! On Monday, Apache hiked Crane Mountain. Miss Sarah and I were impressed with our girls ability to hike to the summit in less than an hour and with our campers’ positive attitudes about the challenging hike! Shoshone hiked Good Luck Mountain; Miss Liesl and Miss Ellie said that the hike was a great bonding time and they returned with beautiful wildflowers which they picked on the trail. The Adirondacks are truly a wonderful place to learn more about God as our Creator because we are surrounded by such beauty!
We are so excited to see what else the Lord has in store for session eight. He is our good Father and has blessed this island abundantly this summer. His love for us is evident in the peace that falls upon the island in the morning and night, the joy that shines through campers and staff during the day, the beautiful sound of worship in the chapel, and the constant beautiful scenery He provides. We are deeply thankful for all His good gifts and pray that He will reveal Himself to campers and staff in new ways as we leave the island.
“Be bold, be strong, for the Lord our God is with You.”
Blessings,
Miss Natalie
